Posh warns Geri (05-08-2000)

VICTORIA Beckham yesterday warned ex-Spice pal Geri Halliwell to be wary of new boyfriend Robbie Williams - saying: "He loves HIMSELF."
Posh Spice said she cannot understand why her former girl band colleague is dating the randy ex-Take That singer.
And she added: "I hope Geri knows what she's doing."
Posh, 26, spoke out as serial loverboy Robbie, 26, and Geri, 28 on Sunday, cavorted like teenagers on holiday in St Tropez, South of France.
The Spice Girls turned their back on Robbie after he dumped another one of the group, Sporty Mel C, after a brief romance three years ago.
Posh told The Sun in an exclusive interview yesterday: "I don't know whether it's love but I know he loves himself. What's it all about?
"I know he's got a new single out though - not that he needs the publicity. I can't believe it.
"I'm sure they'll be talking a lot about therapy together. I just hope she knows what she's doing."
The Sun revealed Robbie and the former Ginger Spice were madly in love on Tuesday - and we published the first pictures of the pair frolicking by a pool at their rented private villa.

Yesterday Geri wore a skimpy red bikini to show off her slimline figure and a tattoo on her back. Robbie's tattoos were also on display as he chain-smoked on the beach. She lovingly climbed on his shoulders for a piggy-back ride to a dinghy. Then the couple chatted on a jetty and gazed into each other's eyes.
They are planning an intimate dinner for Geri's birthday on Sunday. Posh's warning to Geri came just before she took to the air on London dance radio station Kiss 100 FM.
She hit out at reports she had GAINED weight, revealing: "I'm exactly the same weight as I was six months ago - seven and a half stone. I can't win, can I?" Posh was joined on the show by former Another Level star Dane Bowers who features on her new single Out Of Your Mind.
And she was stunned when husband David Beckham called from Germany, where he is on a tour with Manchester United. Becks went on air and when Dane asked the England star what he did for a living, he joked: "I'm a plumber."

Geri denies romance (03-08-2000)

Geri Halliwell and Robbie Williams met up in the south of France last night to begin a two-week holiday in a rented St Tropez villa, but the couple are insisting they are just good friends.
Geri's spokesperson confirmed the pair were together in the exclusive resort town, but denied rumours of a romance. 'They have known each other for years and have a lot of friends in common, so it's natural they would take a break together.'
The two first met years ago when Take That and Spice Girls were at the height of their fame, and re-ignited their friendship last year after performing at Prince Charles' 50th birthday celebrations.
Now it seems the EMI labelmates are giving each other career advice, as Robbie has begun preparing for his tour with the help of Geri's favourite choreographer, Luca Tommassini, Artistic Director of her Bag It Up performance at the Brits. Luca has also worked with Madonna, Ricky Martin and Kylie Minogue.
It is expected Geri and Robbie will be joined by George Michael and boyfriend Kenny Goss on Sunday for the ex-Spice Girl's 28th birthday.

Geri's new album (29-07-2000)

Geri has been locked away in the studio writing and recording her second solo album. Information about the forthcoming songs is like gold dust (wouldn't we all just love to know?) but Geri did give us this exclusive update from her secret recording hideaway...
How is album 2 coming along?
It's coming along such a treat! I'm so pleased with how the album is turning out... I think everyone will be shocked! I think the music and writing has developed greatly and my vocal performance has advanced dramatically. I'm really excited about it.
What can you say about the songs?
Well, I don't want to spoil it but everything has stepped up 100%. You could divide the styles between 3 sections.
Don't tease us! What are the 3 styles?
There are still a lot of geri-factor quirky songs on there. The second style is more womanly ( I think all the girls out there will identify with them greatly and say 'you know what? I think that too!'). The third piece of pie is dance music. I want to do big dance tunes for raving to, hi-nrg tracks you'll hear in the middle of a club at two o'clock in the morning!
When will we hear the new songs?
We don't know. We're probably looking at the early part of next year...


Geri Duet with Ronan and Steps (23-07-2000)

Roumors are flying that 10 time #1 Geri Halliwell wants to duet with Ronan Keating and pop act Steps for a new single roumored to be released in September. Though there is no official news yet the single may have already been recorded. This is roumored to be the first single from Geri's second album "Ven Conmigo" to be released on November 13th. If the single is released in September then former Spice pal Melanie B should watch out, her single "Tell Me" is set for Release on September 4th. So keep an eye out for the new single from Steps Ronan and Geri!


Posh to Follow in Geri's Footsteps (22-07-2000)

Victoria Beckham is due to take to the stage at G.A.Y., Londonsup1;s infamous gay club night at the Astoria in WC2 on Saturday 5 August. Following in the footsteps of hundreds of top pop artists including TakeThat, Westlife, Kylie Minogue and a certain Geri Halliwell, Posh will wow the crowds as she performs her new single, Out Of Your Mind with TrueSteppers featuring Dane Bowers. The single is due for release on 21 August. It is thought unlikely that the Spice Girl will showcase any more solo material at the Saturday night gig or that ex-band mate Geri will join her for a duet!

Geri Halliwell has been rather quiet lately, so it should be no real surprise that she burst back on to the international pop scene with a vengeance by making out with the Pope. Geri took the adage "When in Rome..." a mite too far while performing in front of 70,000 revellers by bumping and grinding next to one of her dancers who was dressed as the ageing pontiff. Her performance was the culmination of a week of Gay Pride events in the Italian capital and across the world. Geri looked bleached blonde, tanned, and toned, and was evidently enjoying getting back in front of a crowd who appreciated her dig at the Catholic Church. Just a few hours earlier, the real Pope called gay people an "offence to Christian values". Meanwhile, the makers of Geri's first film, Therapy, are still looking for the male love interest to play opposite the former Spice Girl. Maybe they should ring the Vatican.


'Stop the Pop' Say Ibiza Dance Fans (18-07-2000)

Worldpop regulars have clashed with die-hard Ibiza partygoers in the island's Great Pop Debate.A huge 70% of worldpop users have voted that pop acts should be allowed to perform on the dance island despite the failure of Saturday's MTV outdoor pop event near San Antonio. Pop lovers across the world see nothing wrong with boy bands invading Ibiza, but following the weekend's pop disaster it seems unlikely that the crowds filling dance clubs such as Pacha and Amnesia are ready for this music crossover. Following the hugely successful dance night attracting 12,000 revellers, Five and Geri Halliwell failed to tempt dance fans with their performances on Saturday evening. Geri played to a near empty dancefloor although Five did manage to gain the interest of a few holiday-makers with their spectacular show.Abs, Ritchie, Scott, J and Sean spent the two days leading up to the doomed pop event throwing themselves into the spirit of Ibiza propping up the island's bars and putting in an appearance at Cream but Geri was reported to have shut herself away in her holiday hideaway, only emerging to take to the stage.Only last Wednesday Kylie Minogue's poptastic performance at Ibiza's Privilege club went down a storm although pop critics credited this to the fact that she was supported by some of the world's greatest DJs. Dance beats pop (17-07-2000)

UNDERWORLD, GERI HALLIWELL, 5IVE, AND CRAIG DAVID were among the acts who played Mtv Ibiza 2000 Festival over this weekend.
The two-day festival, held in a stone quarry just outside San Antonio, is due to be screened on Mtv next month (August).
Friday saw 10,000 festival-goers turn out for the 'Dance Day', which featured sets from Armand Van Helden, Seb Fontaine, Sonique, and Artful Dodger. Craig David performed three songs by himself before joining Artful Dodger for a rendition of 'Re-Rewind'. Meanwhile, headliners Underworld received the best reception of the weekend when they played 'Born Slippy'.
Saturday's 'Pop Day' was less successful. Only 1,000 people arrived to watch Halliwell, 5ive and local DJs. Halliwell appeared in a wedding dress and performed 'Lift Me Up', 'Mi Chico Latino', Nancy Sinatra's 'These Boots Are Made For Walking', debut single 'Look At Me', and 'Bag It Up'. However, she suffered a setback after finishing the first song when her mircrophone failed and a hand-held microphone had to be brought on between each song for her to speak. Many felt disappointed that star attraction Halliwell had been allowed to mime at such an event


Geri's 2nd album (16-07-2000)

If you honestly thought Geri Halliwell was going to sit back & relax during the return of the Spice Girls, you've got another thing coming! Geri herself revealed that she is in fact deep in the album making process.
"Most of the songs have been written," claims Geri. "But you never know, I might want to let [Backstreet Boys & Britney Spears songwriter] Max Martin pen me a couple of hits!"
Not that Geri needs him, she helped write the four Top 3 singles that established her as a force to be reckoned with on the British charts, with a little help from Absolute.
"The Absolute boys will be back for a few, they helped me with 'Schizophonic', but I'm spreading my wings a bit. I've already [written] a track with Gregg Alexander, who wrote Ronan's new song,which is quite good. Who knows what else will be on there, I'm exploring my options right now. I could see myself working with Ronan, maybe even Steps. That would be nice, they're both good friends of mine, and they're both brilliant!"
Geri says nothing is official yet, but hopes to have the first single out in September with the album in shops by Christmas at the latest.

Geri Halliwell yesterday went out of her way to offend Catholics in her latest publicity stunt.
Her lewd act was all part of an extra special effort to upstage her old Spice Girls pal Posh, who was making her solo debut in London.
Dressed in a white skirt and skimpy white bra-top, Geri pulled a mock priest into her chest as he wrapped his hands around her.
During another part of the performance, she wrapped her legs around the dancer and rubbed her crotch up against him.
Just hours before Victoria Beckham took took the stage at London's Party In The Park, Geri was on stage in Italy at the Tor di Valle stadium in Rome. Geri, 27, was the finale of the Italian Gay Pride festival.
Geri's performance couldn't have been more controversial in the home of the Catholic church.
It's not the first time Geri has tried overshadowing Victoria since she quit the Spice Girls in May 1998.
A year ago, Geri put on one of her raunchiest shows ever at that Party In The Park - on the same day Victoria married footballer David.
Four months ago she appeared out of the middle of a 50ft pair of inflatable legs at the Brit Awards - one hour before Victoria and the rest of the Spice Girls received their special award for Outstanding Contribution To British Music.
Almost certainly coincidences.

GERI Halliwell pokes fun at the Pope - just hours after he dubbed gays an "offence" to the Catholic Church.
The ex-Spice Girl cavorted half-naked with a dancer dressed as the Pope in front of the 70,000-strong Gay Pride crowd in Rome.
Pope John Paul had earlier launched a stinging attack on homosexuality, branding it an "offence to Christian values" and "disordered".
Gay rights groups hit back.
Franco Guilliani, chairman of Arcigay, said: "The real offence is the anti-gay prejudice which is fuelled by the Vatican hierarchy."

Bad breath (03-07-2000)

Sporty Spice Mel C has revealed that her former bandmate Geri Halliwell has bad breath. Mel has told how she and the rest of the band worried over how to break the news to the former Ginger Spice - but got around it by offering out sticks of minty chewing gum to everyone. Speaking on a radio interview Mel said: "I would normally tell people if they had smelly breath, especially if I were close enough. Whenever that occasion arose with one of the members of the band, we used to say, 'does anyone want some chewie?'" When quizzed as to whether Geri had bad breath, Mel asked the interviewer to move on before adding: "We have all been there sometimes, like when we had a bit of garlic the night before."


Mel C's harsh comments (02-07-2000)

CATTY MEL C caused a stink yesterday by revealing that former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has bad breath.
Sporty told how she and the rest of the girls fretted over how to break the rotten news to Gingivitis Spice.
They got round the problem, by offering everyone a stick of minty chewing gum.
Sporty Spice's latest comments could lead to the flame-haired singer being re-christened Geri Halitosis.
Mel made her whiffy revelations during an interview for the Hairy Pie Club slot on Atlantic 252's breakfast show, telling host Tony Wrighton: "I would normally tell people if they had smelly breath, especially if I were close enough.
"Whenever that occasion arose with one of the members who used to be in the band, we used to say does anyone want some chewie?"
Tony spluttered: "Geri Halliwell has bad breath!" and a flustered Mel asked him to move quickly on. And she tried to lessen the impact by adding: "We have all been there sometimes, like when we had a bit of garlic the night before."
Afterwards Tony said: "It was pretty early so I'm glad Mel C didn't get too close to my breath."
Mel's comments are likely to reignite her simmering feud with Geri which has gone on since she walked out of the Spice Girls.
Sporty branded her former bandmate as "just cotton wool", while earlier this year, she said: "Geri can't sing and she can't dance either."
But it was thought the pair had patched thing up after meeting for a girly chat before a concert in Manchester.

Geri Halliwell's taking girl power to a whole new level - the former Spice Girl is rumoured to play Maria Von Trapp in a remake of "The Sound of Music!" Dame Julie Andrews, who starred in the original, is quoted as saying the Ginger One will take the lead role but reports are as of yet unconfirmed.
